USS KASKASKIA (AO27) REUNIONS

The USS KASKASKIA (AO27) Reunion Association Inc. hosts yearly reunions. Jim and Maxine Wescoat were the founders and hosts for the first KAS reunion held in St. Louis, MO, in 1990. The 31th reunion was held in October in Columbus, Ohio.

Events

  • Wednesday, the 20th we had a Welcome Reception with hors devours and beverages. It was a chance to renew old friendships with shipmates and their spouses.

  • Thursday, the 21st, we visited Motts Military Museum. The museum's founder, Warren Motts, gave us a look at F.D.N.Y. Ladder 18 which was crushed during the collapse of the World Trade Center towers on 9/11. Mr. Motts explained the museum's vision to create a dedicate building for the permanent display of Ladder 18 and other 9/11 artifacts. We were also treated to a guided tour of the rest of the museum which contains hundreds of artifacts from the Revolutionary War to Desert Storm.

  • Friday morning we had a bus tour of Columbus then lunch at the Spaggetti Warehouse. After lunch there was a guided tour of the National Veterens Memorial and Museum.

  • Saturday evening, we enjoyed our annual banquet.

  • Sunday the 24th we departed to meet again in Hershey, PA in 2022.
