USS KASKASKIA (AO27) REUNIONS
The USS KASKASKIA (AO27) Reunion Association Inc. hosts yearly reunions. Jim and Maxine Wescoat were the founders and hosts for the first KAS reunion held in St. Louis, MO, in 1990. The 28th reunion was held in September in Portland, Maine.

Events
- Thursday, the 20th we had a Welcome Reception including beer & wine w/cheese & crackers.
It was a chance to renew old friendships with shipmates and their spouses.
- Friday, the 21st we visited the Maine Maritime Museum where our tour guide gave us a fascinating
description of Bath Maine and the wooden ship building industry including the construction of the
Wyoming the largest wooden Schooner ever built.
We then boarded a boat for a tour of the Kennebeck River where we saw some lighthouses and
the Bath Iron Works where consturction of the USS Michael Monsoor and USS Daniel Inouye
are nearing completion.
There was a brief stop in Freeport for shopping at L.L.Bean then back to the hotel for
movie night, Grumpy Old Men.
- Saturday, the 22nd we were on our own to explore the Portland Waterfront. In the evening
we enjoyed an Old Fashion Maine Lobster Bake at the hotel followed by some more informal
gatherings in our hospitality room.
- Sunday the 23rd we enjoyed a boat tour of Casco Bay and a guided bus tour of Portland.
After our afternoon business meeting we enjoyed our final night in Portland with the traditional banquet.
There were roses for the spouses at the banquet and a raffle afterward.
- Monday the 24th we departed to meet again in Branson Mo in September 2019.
